II Corinthians 10:5 "Casting down imaginations,
and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"

In the New International Version Bible or NIV for short There are passages which equate Jesus and Satan. Some are listed below.

NIV  Isaiah 14:12-15(In the KJV this passage refers to Lucifer in verse 12)

 12 How you have fallen from heaven,
       O morning star, son of the dawn!
       You have been cast down to the earth,
       you who once laid low the nations!

 13 You said in your heart,
       "I will ascend to heaven;
       I will raise my throne
       above the stars of God;
       I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
       on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.

 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
       I will make myself like the Most High."

 15 But you are brought down to the grave,
       to the depths of the pit.

NIV Revelation 22:16(Here Jesus clearly says he is the morning star)

16 I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.

NIV 2 Peter 1:19

19And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

I used to think that only the New Versions of the Bible equated Satan with Jesus, but now after carefully studying the situation out I have come to the conclusion that this is not the case.

The King James Version of 1611 at Isaiah 14:12 has "or, O day Starre." as a side note as you can see from the image below from that version.

or, O Day Starre

Any one who read that 1611 KJ bible could easily conclude that Satan and Jesus were in fact one and the same being because of the following image in which Jesus is referred to as the day starre in 2 Peter 1:19 of the King James Version of 1611.

Day Starre

We Christians know that this could not possibly be the case though and as you will see it is not. In the Latin Vulgate translated by Jerome the word "Lucifer" appears several times. It appears as such in Isaiah 14:12 and also in 2 Peter 1:19. In the Isaiah 14:12 verse "Lucifer" is a mistranslation of the Hebrew word "heylel". Heylel occurs only once in the Hebrew Old Testament. It has a root word "halal" which appears many times and has many meanings many of which describe the attributes of Satan perfectly. There are also good meanings to the Hebrew word "halal". One of them means "to shine" and this is what I believe the proper translation of the Hebrew word "Heylel" is.

The words "day star" in 2 Peter 1:19 is a mistranslation also by the KJV translators. The Greek word "phosphorus" means literaly "light bearer" and this is what it should say in that verse. Jerome correctly interprets the greek word "phosphorus" as "lucifer" in the Latin Vulgate in 2 Peter 1:19.

So "Lucifer" is actually a Latin description of Jesus and not the Name of Satan. The reason this myth prevails is that the Latin Vulgate preached that Lucifer was Satan for over a thousand years without dispute and it got ingrained into the popular culture as such. It however has no basis in reality.

My conclusion is this. The Wescott/Hort greek text is still proven without a doubt to be false by Dean Burgon. That the King James Version of the bible is not the best possible English Translation, but it is the best available English translation. All the modern new bible versions remain based on the W/H greek and are therefore pretty much worthless...
